Yes, if your membership is valid, you are covered during competitions. The competition must be recognized by a local, national, or international organization.
When are my students or clients insured?
They are insured as soon as you have enrolled them either with Basic, Plus or Premium Kiter Membership from the Student Registration Form.
Will I receive a plastic card with my credentials on, or will it be 100% digital?
Your IKO membership is proof of your enrolment in the insurance plan. You will not receive a separate insurance card or digital certificate.
Am I covered by insurance if I break someone's kite/board?
Yes, you are covered for material damage, subject to an excess of 250 Euros. If a third party files a claim against you for compensation, contact IKO Support to assist you with your claim.
Does the professional third party liability insurance cover me in case of third party property damage and/or injury, or requires hospitalization, just in case someone gets hurt during my lesson?

Can I get a refund if I change my mind about the policy and want to cancel?
The IKO will not provide a refund for any online service such as membership, eCourses or eBooks.
I only work a few months a year and I think the fee is a little high for me, but I don't want to lose my IKO instructor membership, what can I do?
The basic instructor membership is only USD79.90 per year. This includes both the recreational third party liability insurance and all IKO services. Please note, this level of membership does not include cover for your students while you are teaching.
Can I cumulate/add together compensation from both the recreational third party liability insurance and personal accident insurance?
No, the third-party insurance is to compensate others. The personal accident policy applies to yourself.
What if I break my leg while kitesurfing or while working?
Medical expenses are not covered under this insurance. You should use your health insurance if you have any. However, if your injury results in permanent partial or total disability as listed in the policy, you may file a claim for compensation.
What do I do if I have an accident with another person and they need to go to hospital?
If you are responsible for an accident involving a third party, then you must submit a claim so the insurance company can reimburse the other person.
