The eLearning content in Module 1 is too complicated for me. What should I do?
How do I begin the course?
You begin the course by enrolling in Module 1 eLearning which you can complete from the comfort of your home.
What are the prerequisites?
There aren’t any prerequisites for Module 1 eLearning. Anyone can do the first module. But to attend Module 2 In-Person Training, you must be at least 16 years old and have a riding level equivalent to IKO Kiteboarder Level 4 - Advanced.
What are the modules?
The course has two modules. The first module is eLearning and completed at home. The second module is in-person training at an IKO Center.
I am certified by another organization. What can I do to become IKO Instructor?
You can enroll in any IKO Instructor Training Course (ITC) to qualify as an IKO Instructor without needing to attend the IKO Assistant Training Course (ATC) first. Contact us to reserve your spot.
Why did I not receive a physical member card?
The kiter member cards have been discontinued in favor of the public profile, which enables more control over quality and ensures that all Instructors now certify their students online. Also, it prevents the risk of losing the card and makes it more eco-friendly!
Why haven’t I received the email to activate my account?
First, check your junk folder to see if the email was marked as spam. If it’s not there, ensure that you are using the same email you provided to your Instructor for certification, as your certification is linked to that email. If not, your Instructor may not have certified you yet.
My Instructor has not certified me yet
If you have not received the email to activate your account within 48 hours after the end of your last session, you can request your certification from the IKO website. To do so, create an IKO account using the same email that you gave to your Instructor for the certification. Then, log in to your account and click on the button "Request my certification".
What happens if I fail my Pro Course?
If you failed the Pro course (ATC or ITC), it means that you did not meet the requirements to pass the course and that you are not ready to follow an internship yet. This decision is final and up to the Assistant Trainer's or Examiner's judgement with confirmation of the Training Department for special cases. Note that none of the fees are refundable.
How do I learn to kite board?
If you are looking to learn kiteboarding, it is best to find a certified school with certified instructors working. Kitesurfing is an extreme sport with a technical aspect. It can be extremely dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Learning at an IKO Center with IKO Certified Instructors will ensure a safe and complete training.
