How do I get ready for the Coach Level 1 Course?
What are the benefits of becoming a certified Coach Level 1?
What are the prerequisites?
You must be a certified IKO Instructor (Level 1 or above) with active IKO membership and demonstrate in the video the following Level 1 to 4 Safety procedures and the following tricks in at least one of the Evolution Courses - Freeride, Freestyle, Wave Riding, Hydrofoil and/or Wing Foil.
Level 1 to 4 Safety Procedures:
Self-rescue
Self-launching
Self-landing
Level 5 – Freeride (to be a certified Freeride Coach)
¨  Ride blind
¨ Transition with back-roll
¨ Jump with various grabs
Will I be a certified IKO Assistant if I only complete the Assistant Online Course?
No, you must complete both the online course and the live course to be a certified IKO Assistant.
What if I fail the assessment at the end of the Online Course?
The assessment is there simply to improve your knowledge. You can take the assessment several times. If you don't pass the assessment online, you can take it again during the live course.
The Assistant/Instructor Online Course is too complicated for me. What should I do?
The Online Course is there to prepare you for the live course. If you need clarification or have questions, write them down. Anything that was not clear to you will be clarified by your Trainer during the live course.
Can I only do the Online Course (for Assistant and/or Instructor)?
Yes, you can complete only the Online Course to improve your general kitesurfing knowledge. You don’t have to take the live course unless you want to and are pursuing a professional certification
How do I begin the course?
You begin the course by enrolling in the Assistant Online Course which you can complete from the comfort of your home.
What are the prerequisites for the Assistant Online Course?
There aren’t any prerequisites for the Assistant Online Course. Anyone can do it. But to attend Module 2 In-Person Training, you must be at least 16 years old and have a riding level equivalent to IKO Kiteboarder Level 4 - Advanced.
What is the Expired Instructor Reassessment?
The Expired Instructor Reassessment enables an IKO Instructor whose membership has been expired for more than two years to be recertified, without having to attend an ITC.
